Stress Management Prevents Dis-ease & Illness

Stress is a major factor in dis-ease & Illness.  Find out how to protect yourself with a few simple naturopathic practices.

Stress is the root cause of disease (dis-ease) and illness. When we are stressed the body goes into 'fight or flight' mode, great when we need to run from a bear. The body shuts down all the systems not required and concentrates on pumping the hormone adrenaline into the muscles via the blood system. The digestive system slows right down. With no subsequent physical action adrenaline lurks in the system. If stressed every day the whole body will start to malfunction. A bit of high blood pressure here, a few heart palpitations there, anxiety, a sense of unease, a lack of motivation perhaps, then it's down the slippery road towards dis-ease and illness. What to do? Where to start? Divide your day into eight hours work, eight hours rest and eight hours play. Stress management, not prevention is the aim; we all need a little stress and adrenaline to keep us on our toes. However we must allow time for physical exercise and relaxation. Focus totally on whatever you are doing, be it work, rest or play. *Do only one thing at a time. Start by listing everything that you do. Is it all necessary?* Is there anything that you can cut out? *Can you delegate anything to others?* What do you enjoy most? * What is most important to you? * Work out strategies for coping with life and what it throws at us.*  Are you consuming nourishing foods? Your body requires the right fuel to help it to run at its optimum. There are many simple and safe remedies, also natural procedures to aid health, drinking water, taking in sunshine, walking or cycling And don't forget:- Pogo "We have met the enemy, and he is us." If you need further help, then take advice from a professional.
